Lilly Magilly’s Cupcakery in Gaithersburg’s Rio Center has caught the wave of cupcake-mania that is sweeping the country.

Owner and proprietor of Lilly Magilly’s, Kristen Kendall, has loved baking with her mom since childhood and she envisioned that one day she would have her own baking business. Good thing for Gaithersburg she settled on the cupcake confection as the centerpiece of her new enterprise.

Reminiscent of an old-fashioned soda shoppe, Lilly Magilly’s bakeshop transports you to a magical place filled with sumptuous treats.

Baked fresh from scratch daily, this cupcakery offers 8 - 10 varieties of cupcakes, including a Flavor of the Day. Always available are the Red Velvet cupcakes (with cream cheese frosting), Vanilla Vanilla, Brownie Delight, Chocolate or Vanilla with Peanut Butter frosting and Salted Caramel (a rich dark chocolate cake-base with caramel frosting). 

Lilly Magilly’s loves to keep things fresh by experimenting with and adding new varieties of cupcakes. One new customer favorite is the Snickerdoodle, a vanilla-based cake with sugar and cinnamon. Cookies and Cream, Butter Pecan and Strawberry round out the shop’s great assortment. If you can imagine it, Lilly Magilly’s will try to bake it…. Even the Pumpkin cupcake has been in demand.

A fun birthday party option for kids has evolved from the shop’s underlying “princess” theme and décor. Kids are given a tour of the kitchen (where the magic begins), then they select a cupcake to decorate for themselves. 

Lilly Magilly’s is a dream come true for Kristen, whose mom still comes in and bakes with her. And her cupcakes are a dream come true for the customers lucky enough to partake. Thankfully Lilly Magilly’s rode the wave of cupcake-mania right here to Gaithersburg.
