Gay Rights Activists Dub Friday 'National Kiss Day' at Chick-fil-A

Gay rights activists have created a campaign called "National Same Sex Kiss Day." Will you be at Chick-fil-A today in support?

Following Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy’s controversial remarks about same-sex marriage last week, gay rights activists have planned an event, dubbed “kiss day,” at the restaurant.

“In honor of their support for love, equality, and the real definition of a family, we’re holding a NATIONAL Same Sex Kiss Day at Chick-fil-As around the country,” the Facebook event page reads.

The post also adds that the event was not created to counter Mike Huckabee’s "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day,” which took place on Wednesday and CNN reported, earned the company “record-setting” sales.

Friday’s campaign urges people to bring friends, show up at the restaurant and take pictures and videos of themselves kissing to post online.

Chick-fil-A has 45 locations throughout Maryland, including stores in Bowie, Bethesda, Capitol Heights, Germantown, Laurel and Largo.

In an interview with The Baptist Press last month, Cathy announced his support for the “biblical definition of the family unit.”

His comments prompted a wave of backlash, and The Jim Henson Company, whose founder is from University Park, announced it would not partner with the restaurant in the future.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) supports “kiss day,” as well as an effort by gay rights advocates to promote eating at Kentucky Fried Chicken instead of Chick-fil-A.

I don't know about God, but I can be sure that Wayne has been wrong on occasion and that he has no way of knowing about God any more than the rest of us.

People who who think they know exactly what God thinks and use their certainty to justify trying to make everybody conform to their religious beliefs have caused terrible suffering and harm through the centuries, Christians, Jews, Muslems, etc., etc. All have killed in the name of their religion, and still are doing so. Or if they are not killing, they are hurting in other ways by discriminating against people or trying to make civil authority enforce their religious beliefs about behavior on those who don't share their beliefs.

Personally I don't patronize businesses run by people I know to be bigots, religious, racial, or any other kind.

@Woodside Park Bob You simply make generalizations about people of faith. It is undeniable fact that some people were killed in the name of religion (some estimate the total to be less than 1 million). Those who committed such heinous crimes should be condemned. Compared to the massacres of 6 million Jews and millions of others by Hitler; more than 40 million by Stalin; from 50 t0 70 million by Mao Zedong and countless others by other godless communists and other dictators around the world, the killings done in the name of religion is insignificant. What Christians have done and continue to do around the world even now far out weigh what was done in the past by those who misused Christianity as a cover for their evil deeds. Those who don't want to believe in God shouldn't use any excuse to attack christians and others by a fabricated lies. Jesus has not taught his followers to kill others. Genuine christians did not kill and won't kill others. It was Jesus who said "Do unto others as you would like others do to you; Love God with all your heart ...and your neighbors as yourself."

Just because the Bill was past, that says Gays and same sex marriages lawful, every one does not go along with this out rage. God odain man and woman to be together, not two men nor two women. The company has every right to state their believths. This is American and we do have rights. Now if you believe that God is please with your lifesyle, that's between you and God. I feel very sorrow for all of you thinking that it's ok to marry the same sex, and you know what, you will be judge as all of us will be one day. This is the way i believe and think and you can't change that, nor can you change the way that Chick - fill - A think or feel. that is that man's believth.

Yes, thank goodness for freedom of speech and my right to peaceful protest. Which means I can boycott prejudiced and ignorant organizations all I want.

No matter how smart some try to appear, they all cede the high road with the name-calling. Boob? Seriously? Either dial down the self-righteous rage or turn in your Christian card.

Steven, just shut the hell up. You don't get to act like a dick then call yourself a christian. When was the last time you went to a food kitchen to help the poor? Or donated money to help starving kids in Africa? If half as many "Christians" followed Jesus' actual message of help the poor and those in need as went to Chick-fil-a last week, this country would be a much better place.

Extended public displays of affection have usually been considered inappropriate regardless of the couple.

Good grief, people. To each their own, and that goes both ways. Let's have done with this nonsense for once. There are much more important things going on in the world than this.

Wow, looks like Steven Easley spent his weekend sitting here. 50% name calling and 50% ranting to no one in particular. That's pretty cool.

What happened to Chick Fil A reveals the fact that the is intolerance for freedom of speech and religion in our country. So many individuals are coming to USA because of the freedom we enjoy. Support for Chick Fil A should come from all Americans irrespective of gender or/and sexual preferences. Those of us who are for a traditional and natural marriage should not be called anti-gays. There are many who are of the opinion that marriage should be limited to a natural marriage (one man and one woman) not the unnatural ones. Trying to call the natural marriage and family with the unnatural so called marriage and family should be avoid in order to avoid a confusion thereby discouraging a distorted view of part of our society regarding masculinity and femininity. Study shows that Homosexuality and lesbianism is a product of lack of confidence in ones masculinity and femininity. Biologically, intrinsically and essentially there is no such thing as a homosexual. Scientists have concluded that there is no gay 'gene." The rights that homosexuals demand are not civil rights. We see ex-homosexuals, ex-husbands, ex-adulterers etc. but not ex-Negros; ex-Caucasians; ex-native-Americans as stated by Dr. Alveda King in one of her speeches. It is , therefore, advisable to call a union between those with the same gender with a different name and not a marriage. It is even intellectually dishonest to call the natural and the unnatural - opposite stuff with the same name.
