Montgomery County Libraries Expand Borrowing Privileges
The changes will take effect Feb. 17.
Library patrons will be able to check out more material and keep their items for longer once four countywide changes go into effect later this month.
After Feb. 17, Montgomery County library borrowers will be able to:
- increase the number of checkouts on an account from 50 items to 100 items
- place 30 holds, rather than 15
- check out 20 DVDs, rather than 10
- renew items three times (rather than twice), as long as there is not another customer waiting for the item
The county made the announcement in a press release on Monday.
“We want to continue to be responsive and accountable to our residents and users,” said MCPL Director Parker Hamilton in a statement. “By implementing these policy changes, MCPL will ensure that more materials will be in the hands of our customers, and not sitting on shelves. Barriers to customers who need more materials or need materials for a longer period of time will be removed.”
