Battle of the Bands- 5th-8th grades

Battle of the Bands

Registration Form

The Barnesville School is pleased to announce the Battle of the Bands! Bands from all over Montgomery and Frederick counties face off on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 7 pm in the Barnesville gym.

This fun event serves to encourage and provide young musicians a forum in which to perform. We offer local schools and their students an opportunity to enjoy a fun, safe and engaging event. We want the community youth to know that if they have big dreams, they should definitely explore them, work hard, get hands-on experience and begin building career skills now, rather than wait until school is over.

Please note the rules of performance:

   1. Each band will be given 15 minutes to play. Tracking the time is the responsibility of   each band. Judges will also be keeping track of time. If you play over the 15 minutes   you will lose points.    2. Each band will be assigned a time to play at least seven (7) days in advance and   must be ready to go in the “on deck” area back stage 30 minutes before the   performance. If a band is not ready to go during the assigned time they will be   disqualified.   3. Immediately after each band’s 15-minute set, you must pick up your gear and exit   the stage so the next band can get setup.   4. Absolutely no obscene, offensive lyrics or gestures while performing will be   tolerated. It will be the sole decision of the organizer and/or the panel of judges to   determine what is obscene or offensive. Breaking of this rule is grounds for immediate      disqualification.   5. Unacceptable content includes but is not limited to offensive language, sexually   explicit lyrics, and graphic violence or otherwise deemed in appropriate content.   6. On the day of the performance, band members must be dressed in clothing free of   obscenities, drugs, alcohol, sex or other subject matter not suitable for a family   audience.    7. If a band member incites moshing or any other sort of violence in the crowd, the   band will be disqualified and removed from the facility. All clothing must remain on at all   times – no disrobing on stage. The decision of the judges will be final. The judges are not associated with any of the bands that will be performing. The winner of The Battle of the Bands will receive a gift certificate to Omega Recording Studios in Rockville, Maryland. The band will have a two-hour time slot to make a professional recording of their hit(s) by the recording studio staff. The Barnesville School is a smoke-free, alcohol free campus. If you have any further questions, please contact organizer Sue Hughson.
