The Gaithersburg Airpark is holding its annual open house Saturday, The Gazette reported.
The event is free to the public and "visitors will be able to munch free burgers and hot dogs, participate in a paper airplane contest, take discounted rides, view some of the park’s aircraft and watch an air show by local pilots," according to the report.
Retired Air Force Major General Dick Goetze will honored at the event by the Federal Aviation Administation, according to the report. Goetze will be receiving the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award, granted to pilots with more than 50 years of exemplary commercial flying.
The airport is located at 7940 Airpark Road and the event is hosted by the DC Metro Aviation Services and Montgomery County Pilot’s Association.
