"My heart flutters whenever I hear his key turning in the door, and I think to myself, 'Oh goody, the party is about to begin'."
The wonderful actress Anne Bancroft was once loosely quoted as saying about her husband Mel Brooks:
"My heart flutters whenever I hear his key turning in the door, and I think to myself, 'Oh goody, the party is about to begin'."
That anticipation is how I approach life: looking forward with eagerness and wonder. There is so much to experience that I never get bored. My life, just like everybody else's, has exposed me to a variety of unique experiences that can’t be replicated. I have seen sharks beneath the sea and sea turtles laying eggs. I have saved car crash victims, and jumped out of an airplane. I have organized disaster responses, and lived on a small Caribbean island. I have assembled these experiences which have helped shape and mold my being. It is a common adage that we are all unique. But just as important is that our experiences are all unique. No two people experience the same things, in the same way. Even two people sitting down to a meal will experience it differently. One might notice how the carrots were under cooked, and the sauce overly spiced. The other might notice how the potatoes were crisp and juicy; practically melting in your mouth. Without doing anything different, those people experienced things differently, and will forever have different images saved in their brains.

I make this point to show that my writing (and really anybody’s) is biased and comes from personal experiences and observations. There is no such thing as an actual impartial view. Every little thing affects our inner being, just as every one of our actions affects the universe. I co-own an, alternative health and wellness business in North Potomac, working as a Life Coach. Our company, Integrated Pathways, works collaboratively with clients who are experiencing emotional, physical, and spiritual distress. Unlike many forms of healing which focus on symptoms, we look at the whole person: body, mind and soul. Currently, I attend a Masters program in Mental Health Counseling which trains me in psychotherapy. There are many focuses that a person can take in this field; my emphasis is on relationships, sex and intimacy.
I relate this not to advertise, but to elucidate what I will be writing about. Outside of the professional realm, I try to live a simple life. For me, that involves growing and cooking my own food, having a light impact on the environment, and spending wisely. These topics form the essence of my writing on this blog, and my focus in life. I enjoy feedback and welcome a diverse variety of views. Cheers!
