Classic Italian cuisine found at family-owned restaurant in Kentlands.

It is classic Italian cuisine, “Napolitana style,” that is the hallmark of in the Kentlands. Although his daughter, Rebekah, owns the restaurant, it is who brings years of the Italian kitchen to life in this family venture in the Kentlands. 

Reza spent many years, from college on, learning the ins and outs of Italian cooking. But he was always more interested in the kitchen and learned the Italian restaurant business from the kitchen to the dining room, not the other way around.   

Classic Napolitana cuisine features lighter sauces than those from Southern Italy or Sicily.

So what classic dishes keep the customers coming back for more? For starters, the Shrimp Scampi Bread Bowl (appetizer), which is shrimp served in a toasted bread bowl topped with garlic, lemon and butter. The Gnocchi alla Chef, traditional potato dumplings served with a pink creamy tomato sauce and mushrooms, proves to be a customer favorite. 

Luna Italia offers standard Italian fare such as mussels with a choice of marinara or white wine sauce, and a variety of pasta dishes. But the mark of a truly exemplary Italian restaurant is in the veal — Veal Marsala, Parmigiana and Piccata — and Reza is confident that his years of learning the art of veal preparation have served him well.

Don’t leave Luna Italia without dessert: Tiramisu or cannoli is the classic finish to the quintessential Italian meal.

Luna Italia is located at 400 Main Street in the Kentlands, open daily 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays 4-8 p.m.
