Bites Nearby: Rockafellas

This local sports bar and grill offers a variety of food and beer.

There are enough restaurants around the area to try a different place each time you go out. But rather than blindly trying any place you pass on your way home, we have a better idea. Each week, North Potomac-Darnestown Patch picks a great restaurant in or nearby North Potomac or Darnestown that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice.

: Just in time for Super Bowl and March Madness, Rockafellas in North Potomac is introducing a new menu for all its’ fans.

“Since our Grand Opening in September of 2010, we wanted to modernize our menu and provide some healthier options,” said owner, Matt Tempchin. "Our new menu includes a variety of tuna dishes and vegetarian fare.”

But this all American sports bar has not lost sight of its’ roots. Joining the many juicy burgers on the menu are some new cheese steak options and a “Burger of the Week,” along with five varieties of fries. Don’t miss the chili cheese fries, a local fan favorite. Variety seems to be the name of the game at Rockafellas, with 10 choices of sauce for chicken wings, 14 draft beers, 40 bottles beers and 14 high density television screens with individual programming capability. Weeknights they offer a happy hour from 3 - 7 p.m. and a new complimentary buffet from 5 - 6:30pm, where you can sample some of the new specialty items. For the fan with a sweet tooth, the Cakes to Crumbs Bakery is located on the premises with a selection of fresh confections such as cupcakes, specialty cakes and other desserts. Open 11 a.m. daily, come on out to root for your favorite team. Find Rockafellas Sports Grill at 12111 Darnestown Road; (301) 519-3663. Sun - Thu., 11 a.m. - midnight; Fri. - Sat., 11 a.m. - 1 a.m.
