Boscov's Returning to White Marsh Mall

The department store is expected to open in November 2012.

Boscov's is looking to give White Marsh Mall another try.

After a four-year vacancy, the department store is returning to its former front at the Perry Hall Boulevard mall. It is expected to open in November 2012, company officials announced Thursday.

“I’m glad we are returning to White Marsh Mall. It was a great store, and we look forward to creating a new, more exciting Boscov’s in the Baltimore area," Chairman and CEO Albert Boscov said in a statement.

The White Marsh location was one of 10 Boscov's to close in 2008, when the chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Boscov's has sold apparel, accessories, cosmetics and electronics for nearly 100 hundred years. The company currently operates 40 stores in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware, according to the announcement.

Do you plan to shop at Boscov's? Why or why not do you do your shopping at department stores? Tell us in the comments.

So glad Boscov's is returning to White Marsh. I have been going to the one in Westminster since they left White Marsh. Love the selection of clothing. Do agree with a previous comment about the lighting. It was stated in the Baltimore Sun today that they are in the process of renovating the store and it will be a more open floor plan so hopefully it will be brighter. Due to open in October - can't wait.

Agree with Cindy above. Loved Hecht's and Boscov's has similar merchandise and prices. Happy to see it return!

So happy to hear Boscov's is coming back to Perry Hall. I loved the store & missed it also. Also Macy's, Sears & Penneys are the only dept. stores. We needed another one w/better prices. Good move merchandisers. Can't wait for it to open!

I was offered a job there years ago when it opened originally. The hourly wage was way better than minimum, I can tell you. I'm surprised that you felt they were "the worst employees". Maybe it's just my opinion, but the employees always seemed friendly and professional when I shopped there.
