Christmas Eve and Christmas Day: What's Open?

Most offices and businesses observe the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day holidays. Here is information on closures around the area to help you plan for the holiday weekend.

Check out books for the weekend by 8 p.m. Thursday. The Quince Orchard Library will be closed on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25.

Stock up on holiday spirits for the weekend before 7 p.m. on Dec. 24. All Montgomery County liquor stores will are closed Dec. 25 and Dec. 26.

If you're planning on using public transit, check out schedule changes before you leave. Ride On is operating its Sunday schedule on Dec. 24 until 10 p.m. They will continue their regular Saturday schedule on Dec. 25. Metrobus will run its Sunday service on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25. MetroRail is operating its Sunday service on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25 until 3 a.m.

Care to drive instead? Parking is free at curbside spots and in public garages on Dec. 24 and 25.

If going to the movies are part of your Christmas day traditions, have no fear, both the Kentlands Stadium theater and the AMC Loews Rio Cinemas will be open all weekend.

In need of last minute ingredient? Safeway and the Traville Giant Food are open until 5 p.m. on Christmas Day. and Whole Foods are open until 7 p.m. on Dec. 24 and closed on Dec. 25.
