Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union Offers Scholarships to Local Students

Eligible local college students may apply for scholarship awards.

Montgomery County college students and soon-to-be college students: This one is for you.

The Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union has announced its 2011 Charles W. Thomas Foundation Scholarship Program, and the time to apply is now. In an effort to give back to the community, the credit union is offering two $1,000 college scholarships to eligible students.

In order to be eligible, the student must live, work, worship or attend school in Montgomery County. Students must be either high school seniors entering their freshman year of college or students returning for their sophomore, junior or senior year of college. One scholarship will be awarded for each group of students.

Entrants must fill out the scholarship application and respond to a designated question with a 1,000-word essay. Deadline for applications is July 15, 2011. Winners will be notified by July 31, 2011.

Mid-Atlantic Federal’s President and CEO Rick Weiczorek said recently that his company wants to “invest in both the community and the next generation of leaders. The Charles W. Thomas Foundation Scholarship Program gives us the opportunity to achieve both of those goals.”
