5 Things to Know Today: September 28

Things to know today to make your day great

1. Today's weather, for lack of a better word, will be yucky. Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies with a 60% chance of thunderstorms. Some of storms may be severe. High 76F.

2. Even though summer is over and it's probably going to be raining, Shady Grove Farmers' & Artisans' Market at Johns Hopkins University Montgomery County Campus is still going strong. Today from 10am to 2pm, vendors are selling fresh local fruits, vegetables, plants meats, eggs, and poultry. There is also BBQ lunch available along with pastries, and bread as well as original jewelry and art.  The campus is at 9601 Medical Center Dr, Rockville, MD. 3. If you have children in the public school system, today is a half-day and there is no school tomorrow in observance of Rosh Hashanah.

4. For the pre-school set, Storytime at Black Hill at 10am this morning will feature Forest Floor-Rotting Logs. Activities are designed for children ages 3-6, accompanied by an adult. 5. Learn to protect your finances and identity at a free seminar being held at , 506 S Frederick Ave, Gaithersburg. Nearly 9 million Americans have their identities stolen every year due to consumer scams and simple mistakes while shopping. Bank on Gaithersburg is putting on the seminar for free at 7:00pm.
