5 Useful Things to Know Today: Aug. 18

Things to do today to make your day great.

1. It is “Military Day” at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair. Free admission for all active military in uniform or with a valid military ID until 5 p.m.

2. Potomac Village Farmers Market is today at 2:00 pm to 6:30 pm and runs every Thursday through October 27th. Farmers and vendors sell fresh local seasonal fruits, spring vegetables and greens, locally made artisan cheeses and fare, fresh cut flowers, and natural breads and pastries. It located at 9908 S. Glen Rd in Potomac.

3. Monster Truck Madness is at 7:30pm at the County Fair tonight. Admission to the show is $12.00, ages 2-7, $7 in addition to the regular fair admission.

4. For the naturalist in you, take a 90 minute cruise on Little Seneca Lake this evening looking for beavers and bats! The pontoon boat will be giving a tour in search of beaver lodges, feeding sites and (hopefully) beavers! They have onboard binoculars and a bat detector to locate the flying mammals. Ages 6+. Please register at ParkPASS.org (#143116) The boat leaves at 7:00 PM. Cost is only $6. the dock is near the Black Hill Regional Park Visitors Center, 20926 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds, MD. 301-528-3492

5. Beale Street Grill offers half price wine every Thursday with your meal. They are located at 9712 Traville Gateway Drive. 301-838-5590
