2. Montgomery County Public Schools are closed today for students, but teachers are working a professional day. We'd like to congratulate all the students who finished their first semester and wish you the best of luck as you start fresh on Tuesday.

3. Monday Sports Report: The Northwest Hockey Club -- consisting of players from Quince Orchard, Poolesville, Germantown, and Seneca Valley high schools -- defeated Blake, 8-2, on Friday, Jan. 20 in the North Potomac-Darnestown Patch Game of the Week.
