4. In case you missed it: An adult female was struck by a vehicle near Thurgood Marshall Elementary School and was transported to Suburban Hospital's trauma center with serious to life threatening injuries.

It was the second serious incident within the last 24 hours in that area. A 17-year-old was stabbed Jan. 4 about a half mile away.
