5 Useful Things to Know Today: July 18

Here are five things that may be useful to know to plan your day in Darnestown and North Potomac.

Welcome to Monday as we return to the work week and return to the high heat of days gone by. Let's get your week off to a great start with five things that might be useful to know today.

1. A beautiful but hot Monday lies ahead with mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 93 degrees. Overnight will be partly to mostly cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms and low temperature of 74 degrees.

2. Make it an IHOP Monday. Summertime favorite funnel cakes are back at IHOP. Order two crispy funnel cakes topped with powdered sugar, your choice of fruit and whipped cream for only $3.99. Treat the kids, or yourself, to breakfast.

3. Get a library book for your summer reading today. Quince Orchard Library Manager Ann Stillman gave Patch her for readers of all ages. Don't let the summer pass you by without losing yourself in a good book.

4. It is not too early to start that back-to-school shopping. Sorry kids, but this coming weekend marks the mid-point of summer break. Staples is getting the jump on back to school supplies, with special 50 cent items and amazing dollar deals. It pays to be prepared!

5. Ledo's Pizza is introducing its new flatbread pizzettas for $4.99. Looks like a great way to stay out of the kitchen on these hot summer days.
