5 Useful Things to Know Today: July 22
Here are few things to help you plan your day in North Potomac and Darnestown.
Looks like we have a Friday for the record books. With the extreme heat in mind, here are a few things to look forward to today...preferably indoors!
1. Today's weather deal is a record breaker. Mostly sunny skies will bring a high temperature of 101 degrees. (The record high for this date was 100 degrees set in 1957). Overnight look for isolated thunderstorms and a low temperature of 79 degrees.
Be advised that the air quality plummets when the temperatures go up, so the air quality index for the DC Metro area is well into the unhealthy range. Stay indoors, if possible.

2. Captain America: The First Avenger opens in theaters today. This summer blockbuster is rated PG13 and has a runtime of 2 hrs. 4 min. Showtimes today at the Loews Rio Cinema are as follows:

3. Don't turn on the stove. Visit Harris Teeters for their Friday specials. For $4.99 get your choice of any footlong sub or an 8-pc. bucket of baked or fried chicken.
4. Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County is having a Comedy Fundraiser tonight at the Golden Bull Grand Cafe, 7 Dalamar St. in Gaithersburg. Comedy starts at 8 p.m. but the doors open at 6:30. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased by emailing sarah.reddinger@habitat-mc.org.
5. "Wizard of Oz" Puppet Musical opens today and runs through Sept. 4 at Glen Echo Park's North Arcade Building. Showtimes for Fridays are 10 and 11:30 a.m. Admisision is $10 and recommended ages are 5 yrs. and up.
