5 Useful Things to Know Today: July 27

Welcome to Wednesday in the suburbs. Summer is half-way over and so is your week. Make the best of today with the help of these 5 tips from Patch.

1. Today's weather sounds like a classic summer day with a few clouds in the sky, a high temperature near 90F, and breezy. Overnight tonight will have mostly clear skies and a low of 69F.

2. Entertain your small kids today at “Little Tots Summer Fun” at Washingtonian Center. At 10:30 am, Blue Sky Puppets will perform a show called RUFUS in the Rio Center's Atrium. It's free. With this weather, it might be fun to take the kids on a walk around the pond afterward and spend some time on the playground.

3. Seneca Creek State Park is running its Park Pals program this morning. The 45 minute program gives families with young children an educational, fun experience with our natural environment. Kids will do hands-on activities and explore parts of the park. Today, the subject is “Trees.” Cost is $2.00 per child. Please call the Park Office to register at 301-924-2127. 4. Have some gardening issues? There will be a Plant Clinic by Master Gardeners at the Poolesville Library this afternoon. From 1 pm to 3pm, Master Gardeners Terri Pitts and Pam Hosimer will be on hand to address all your plant and garden needs. This is a free program and there is no need to pre-registration.

5. Rockville Town Square hosts Wine Down Music and Wine Series tonight and every Wednesday this summer from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The series will include wine tastings (21 or older only), food sampling, live music and more! Tonight's music if from the Pop/Rock artist, Shane Hines. A fee will be charged for wine tasting with the proceeds benefiting the Montgomery Friends of the Library.
