Gas Leak Forces Temporary Street Closure in North Potomac

Darnestown Rd (Rt 28) and Riffle Ford Road for about an hour this morning

At 7:30am this morning, a contracting crew discovered a small rupture in a gas line at the corner of Darnestown Rd and Riffle Ford Road. Fire Fighters arrived on the scene moments later and closed both roads while they investigated the extent of the event and line was repaired by Washington Gas.

The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Department reports that the leak did not affect any structures or people and was open to the air. The repair took less than an hour and the area was deemed safe at 8:25am. Roads reopened at that time.
