Some fun things to do on a summer weekend

 

This weekend is a great time to enjoy the things of summer like fresh veggies, fishing in a lake, and live theater.

1. MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS! Dinner Theatre Montgomery College

2. Take Me Fishing!

Where: The Boat Center at Seneca Creek State Park , 11950 Clopper Rd., Gaithersburg, MD 20878

When: Saturday, 30 July, 2011 at 9:30am until about 11 am

What: Bring the kids to this beginner fishing workshop to learn how to cast a line, bait a hook, tie basic knots, and more. If you don’t have your own fishing rod and hooks, a limited supply is available for use. Due to Maryland state law, anglers over 16 years old must possess a valid non-tidal fishing license. It is recommended that children under 16 are accompanied by an adult.

3. Grease!

Where: Olney Theatre Center, 2001 Olney - Sandy Spring Rd, Olney, MD 20832

When: Friday at 8pm and two shows on Sat and Sun each at 2pm and 8pm.

What: Take a trip back to the 50's with this fun summer musical. The characters from Rydell High will fill your summer nights with drive-ins, rock n' roll and romance. This show will run until the end of August.

Price: $26-$54

 

4. Good Life Farm Stand

Where: 14701 Darnestown Rd, Darnestown, MD 20874

When: Saturdays and Sundays from11:00am–7:00pm

What: Good Life Farm sells locally grown vegetables and fruit on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at this road side stand. Stop by to meet Farmer Larry and Laura, buy some local produce, and learn about their CSA membership share program. 301-728-2572

5.  The Fifth Element: Stories in Wearable Art

Where: The Popcorn Gallery at Glen Echo 7300 MacArthur Boulevard, Glen Echo, MD 20812

When: today through Sunday, July 31, 2011 – Noon to 6 pm

What: The Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture and Silverworks present the exhibition The Fifth Element: Stories in Wearable Art, the artwork of silversmith Blair Anderson. 301-634-5385
