When/Where: Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School (4301 East West Highway, Bethesda, MD); Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and 3, at 7:30 p.m. (Additional performances on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9 and 10, at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2 p.m.)

Why go: See a Tony Award-winning musical performed by local high-school students. Set in 1958, this satire on American society was inspired by Elvis Presley and his draft notice into the Army in 1957. It is the story of rock star Conrad Birdie, who travels to a small town in Ohio to make his farewell television performance and to kiss his biggest fan before he is drafted. A cast of talented students will sing (accompanied by the B-CC pit orchestra) favorite tunes such as "Kids," "Put on a Happy Face," "The Telephone Hour," "One Last Kiss" and "Spanish Rose."

Price: $15.00 (Adult Reserved), $10 (Child, Student and Senior Reserved) and $10.00 (General Admission All Ages).

When/Where: The free winter concert begins at 8p.m. Friday at Imagination Stage, 4908 Auburn Ave. in Bethesda. The choir concerts and ice sculpting presentations will take place from 1-4p.m. Saturday in Bethesda's Veteran's Park, at Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues.

Why go: Bethesda’s annual family-friendly winter celebration has arrived! Enjoy a free winter concert at Imagination Stage Friday evening, followed by an outdoor concert by school choir groups and a live ice sculpting demonstration Saturday in Bethesda's Veterans Park. Mr. Claus is expected to make a cameo.

4. Bethesda Green Happy Hour

When/Where: 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Redwood, 7121 Bethesda Lane in Bethesda.

Why go: Mix and mingle with local greenies, meet the executive director of Greater Washington Interfaith Power & Light and learn about what local congregations are doing to go green. Enjoy happy hour specials and complementary vegetarian appetizers.

Price: Contribution: $10 at the door will support the good work of Bethesda Green and Greater Washington Interfaith Power & Light to light the way towards a greener community.

5. Quince Orchard v. Old Mill - Maryland 4A Division State Football Championship

When/Where: Friday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Baltimore at M&T Bank Stadium (home of the NFL's Baltimore Ravens).

Why go: See Montgomery County's top public school football team attempt to win its third state championship. Quince Orchard and Old Mill are ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, in The Washington Post.
