Patch Picks: Top Five Picnic Spots

There are a rare few weeks in the Washington area, when temperatures hover around 70 degrees, the humidity of summer has yet to kick in and clouds are few. 1. : This Travilah park has four picnic tables under a pavilion, next to the basketball court, tennis courts, soccer field and playground.

2. : A quiet spot off Darnestown road, this park has six tables under a pavilion. Learn about Darnestown's role in the Civil War at the information plaque near the tables.

3. : Catch up with neighbors at this park in the middle of the Dufief neighborhood. Just be careful not to leave any food behind for the wild life, a last week.

4. Cemetary: Wander through this historic cemetary, where several grave stones date back to the 19th century. Discover a unique and tranquil picnic spot on one of the benches along the walkway.

5. : Discover some of the natural beauty of Montgomery County just beyond Darnestown. Find picnic tables at the Clopper Day Use Area located at 11950 Clopper Road.
