WaPo Analysis: Commuters Spending Less Time on DC Area Roads

Traffic relief may be due to new roads, The Washington Post reports, including the Intercounty Connector in Maryland.

Drivers in the Washington, DC area are spending slightly less time in their cars for work commutes, a survey and analysis commissioned by The Washington Post found. 

On average, commutes are 31 minutes a day, down from 37 minutes in 2005, The Post reported. The national average is just above 25 minutes. 

New roads, including the Intercounty Connector—an east-west toll road that connects Montgomery and Prince George's Counties—may be providing some of the relief, the newspaper said.
