Solar Energy World Shatters Myths about Home Solar at Free Workshop for Homeowners Saturday, 10/5/13

Solar Energy World Shatters Myths about Home Solar at Free Workshop for Homeowners Saturday, 10/5/13

DEADLINE TO RSVP FOR FREE REGISTRATION IS October 3, 2013

Solar Energy World, headquartered in Howard County Maryland, has once again made Solar Power World’s Top 250 US Solar Contractors list, this time for 2013. To celebrate its growth, the solar system design and installation company is holding a free workshop for homeowners designed to combat some of the misperceptions about home solar that still exist.

According to the SEIA (Solar Energy Industries Association), 2013 is shaping up to be another record year for the U.S. solar industry. Maryland in particular continues to show phenomenal growth in solar adoption.   More and more homeowners in Maryland are going solar but there are still quite a few homeowners who haven’t made the switch because of the misinformation that still exists about the solar industry and solar technology.

Solar Energy World’s free workshop for homeowners will be held at their Maryland headquarters in Elkridge. Homeowners will learn about solar power, how it can be incorporated in their homes and what the costs and incentives are for going solar. They will also receive a tour of the company’s own solar roof.  RSVP by October 3 is required for free admission.

“One of the biggest myths is that Solar is too expensive for the average homeowner.  The truth is it’s actually a lot more expensive to do nothing. If you spend $200 a month on your electricity, with a yearly increase of 4.5%, in 10 years you will have sent $35,667 to your utility company with no return on your dollars.” says Laureen Peck, Vice President of Marketing for Solar Energy World. “Using this example, a solar system will save $23,000 on utility costs in less than seven years. Plus with SRECs, grants and other incentives the system not only pays for itself, but makes a profit. Our workshop will show homeowners how this is possible.  Anyone who comes will also get to see the solar system that powers our entire facility up close.”
