Retirement is the Time to Explore New Horizons

College level courses are being offered in the King Farm neighborhood by two local schools.

Lifelong learning is described as the "ongoing, voluntary, and self-motivated" pursuit of knowledge for either personal or professional reasons. Retirement is a time of life when people have the time and impetus to explore new fields of study.

Members of Ingleside at King Farm, a continuing care retirement community in Rockville, are attending scripture studies, computer lectures, crafts classes and exploring the fine arts, like they never have before. They just never had the time!

Ingleside at King Farm is partnering with two college Lifelong Learning programs to bring exciting and diverse courses to their campus. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Johns Hopkins and Montgomery College are offering five courses in the Ingleside at King Farm multipurpose room.

Participants do not have to be Ingleside at King Farm members to attend.

The Johns Hopkins 12-week daytime courses, The “Other” Italian Renaissance and The Gospel According to Matthew, will both be held every Friday between Feb. 21 and May 9. The classes are affordable, only $50.00 one-time registration fee and $125.00 membership which includes the two Spring 2014 classes. Contact Diana Cirone for more information dcirone@ikfmd.org.

The first course is an art history course about a beloved impressionist artist. The Life and Work of Henri Matisse, 3 Monday 10:00am-12 noon sessions beginning March 24 through April 7. Class fee is $50.00.
