Crash Closes Southbound I-270 Near Father Hurley Blvd.

Northbound was closed for 15 minutes, but reopened shortly after 3:30 p.m.

Part of I-270 was closed after three cars and a tractor trailer carrying cement were involved in an accident near the intersection of Father Hurley Boulevard just after 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Several people were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries following the accident, said Sgt. Eric Corbin of the Maryland State Police.

Both northbound and southbound lanes of I-270 were closed at 2:55 p.m. But northbound was reopened by 3:15 p.m., Corbin told Patch.

It was originally thought a medevac helicopter would be needed, but it was canceled.

Once tow trucks are able to move the tractor trailer, I-270 southbound will be reopened, Corbin said.
