Man Charged in Gaithersburg Apartment Complex Slaying

Police arrested the 20-year-old man following a traffic stop in Silver Spring.

Jefferson Daniel Delgado, 20, has been charged with shooting and killing a man in broad daylight at a Gaithersburg apartment complex.

Delgado has been charged with first-degree murder, and was arrested Friday night in Silver Spring after he tried to escape following a traffic stop, according to Montgomery County police.

Michael Kirby Alvarado, 25, was shot and killed at 438 N. Summit Ave. on Thursday.  He was found lying on the ground dead, and was shot multiple times.

Witnesses reported seeing two men leaving the scene, according to police.

Police believe that Delgado and Alvarado knew one another, but are not sure about the details of their relationship.

Police are continuing to investigate other suspects in the case.
