A man was killed on Wednesday morning when he apparently lost control of the motorcycle he was riding on West Montgomery Avenue near Hurley Avenue in Rockville and was struck by a car, county police said.

The motorcyclist, whose name has not been released pending next of kin, was riding a green 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on West Montgomery Avenue at about 10:40 a.m., county police said in a news release. A gray 2009 Nissan Versa was turning left from westbound West Montgomery Avenue onto Hurley Avenue, the release said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda where he was pronounced dead.
