Update: Pedestrian Struck Near Thurgood Marshall ES

A North Potomac man has been charged with failure to stop to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Update (Jan. 12 at 11:15 a.m.): Charges have been filed against a North Potomac man who Montgomery County police have identified as the driver of the vehicle that struck a faculty member on Jan. 5.

Marco Mejia, of the 12500 block of Carrington Hill Drive, has been charged with one count of failing to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk, MCPD spokeswoman Angela Cruz said.

Mejia remained at the scene of the accident after striking Marie Doggett while she was walking her dog in the 16100 block of Orchard Grove Road, Cruz said.

Original Post (Thursday, Jan. 5 at 6:16 p.m.): An adult female was struck by a vehicle and is being transported to Suburban Hospital's trauma center with serious to life threatening injuries, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Captain Oscar Garcia said.

Dispatch received a call at approximately 5:25 p.m. about the incident, which occurred on the 16100 block of Orchard Grove Road, Garcia said.
