Police Still Searching for Hit-and-Run Suspect

A Gaithersburg man is wanted on burglary, assault and several traffic charges in connection with the May 18 incident.

Montgomery County Police are still searching for the man linked to a near the intersection of Shady Grove and Traville Gateway Drive on May 18.

Police have identified a suspect, but would not release his name as the investigation is ongoing. Officer Amy Daum, spokesperson for Montgomery County Police, described the suspect as a 38-year-old white male from Gaithersburg.

According to the police report, at approximately 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, the suspect fled the scene of a car accident involving two cars near the intersection of Shady Grove Road and Traville Gateway Drive.

The suspect then broke into four nearby houses, police said. Break-ins were reported on Calabash Court, the 13500 block of Hayworth Drive, the 10200 block of Sweetwood Ave. and the 14000 block of Gray Birch Way.

One of those houses was that of Shashi Bellamkonda. In a post on his blog, Bellamkonda wrote that the suspect said he was running away from his abusive wife.

The suspect is wanted on four counts of fourth degree, four counts of third degree burglary, three counts of second degree assault, three counts of resisting arrest, rogue and vagabond charges and multiple traffic charges.

Daum said the suspect is also wanted in Fairfax County.
