Male driver of dump truck taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Update, 4 p.m.: The male driver of the dump truck was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries following the fire this morning, said Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Capt. Oscar Garcia.

The driver told investigators he had recently had some work done on the truck. He pulled over at the intersection of Shady Grove Road Exd. and Molecular Drive just before 11 a.m. on Thursday because he thought he had a flat tire. When he stepped out of the truck he saw smoke and flames coming from the engine, Garcia said.

He said he felt heat coming from the engine and may have inhaled some smoke. He was transported to the hospital as a precaution, Garcia said.
