Rockville and Montgomery County Offices Closed for Labor Day

County transportation will operate on a holiday schedule.


A number of city and county facilities will be closed in observance of Labor Day on Monday.

In the City of Rockville, the following facilities will be closed:

  • City Hall
  • F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre Box Office 
  • Croydon Creek Nature Center 
  • Rockville Civic Center Park offices 
  • Glenview Mansion 
  • The Glenview Mansion Art Gallery 
  • Lincoln Park Community Center 
  • Thomas Farm Community Center  
  • Twinbrook Community Center 
  • Rockville Senior Center

The Rockville Swim and Fitness Center and RedGate Municipal Golf Course will be open. Indoor pools will be open noon to 8 p.m. The rest of the facility will be open noon to 9 p.m.

Recycling and trash will be not be collected. The collection schedule will shift forward one day for all customers. (Customers whose usual collection day is Monday will have their items picked up on Tuesday, etc. Friday customers should put their items out for Saturday collection. Parking will be free at city-owned meters.

The following offices in Montgomery County will be closed or will operate on alternative schedules Monday in observance of Labor Day.

  • Montgomery County Public Schools administrative offices: closed
  • State offices and courts: closed
  • All county offices: closed
  • Libraries: closed
  • County liquor stores: closed
  • Recreation: Outdoor pools will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Olney Indoor Swim Center open during normal operating hours; other indoor aquatic facilities closed. Administrative offices, senior centers and community centers closed.

County transportation will operate on the following schedule:

  • Ride On: Sunday schedule
  • Metrobus: Sunday schedule
  • Metrorail: Sunday schedule
  • TRiPS Commuter Stores (Silver Spring and Friendship Heights): closed
  • Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters: free
