Former Gaithersburg Middle Assistant Principal Named Maryland's Best

Everett Davis, now at Montgomery Village Middle School, was named Maryland's best assistant principal, The Gazette reported.

Montgomery Village Middle School assistant principal Everett Davis was selected as the state assistant principal of the year for 2013, according to a report by The Gazette.

Davis, who had worked at Gaithersburg Middle School, was nominated for the award by Gaithersburg Middle's principal, Carol Goddard, prior to leaving his post for Montgomery Village Middle earlier this year.

“I knew that he had every capability of being chosen,” Goddard told The Gazette. “He’ll take what he knows and help build some programs over there.”

Davis was very influential during his five-year tenure at Gaithersburg Middle, forming a mentoring group for male students that took trips to Montgomery College, L’Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg and the White House, according to the report.

Davis — who attended Gaithersburg's Quince Orchard High School as a teen — has worked in Montgomery County public schools for 13 years, according to the news report. He started as a Spanish teacher at Northwest High School in Germantown, then worked at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Germantown and Francis Scott Key Middle School in Silver Spring.
