Quince Orchard improved to 2-0 on the season with a convincing 42-6 win over the visiting Montgomery Blair Blazers on Saturday afternoon.
Quarterback Billy Plante threw for a touchdown and ran for another while running back Mark Green rushed for two scores—all of which occurred in the opening quarter to give the Cougars a 28-0 lead heading into the second quarter.
The Cougars added to their lead in the second quarter when Marty Heyn intercepted a Blair pass 60 yards for the score.
Later in the second quarter, backup running back Manuel Brown scored on a 10-yard run to give the Cougars a commanding 42-0 halftime lead, which led to a "running clock for the remainder of the quarter and for the entire second half, allowing Mencarini to rest his starters in the second half.
"I thought we did exactly what we needed to do," Quince Orchard coach Dave Mencarini said.
"We moved the ball effectively on offense. Billy did a good job running and throwing and he made some good decisions, which is encouraging."
Plante finished with 49 yards passing and 26 yards on the ground while in the game. Green finished with 86 yards on 12 attempts.
Quince Orchard travels to Paint Branch on Friday night in a contest of two unbeaten teams.
