Gaithersburg Area Boy's, Girl's Lacrosse Teams Enter State Tournament

The boy's and girl's varsity lacrosse teams from Gaithersburg, Quince Orchard and Watkins Mill high school's all qualified for the state tournament.

When the Maryland boy's and girl's state lacrosse tournaments get underway Wednesday, Gaithersburg area schools will be well represented in both tournaments.

Both the boy's and girl's varsity teams from Gaithersburg, Quince Orchard and Watkins Mill high schools qualified for their respective tournaments, with four of the six teams earning a first-round bye.

Boy's Bracket

  • Quince Orchard is seeded No. 3 in the 4A/3A North region, securing a first-round bye. The Cougars will host the winner of No. 6 Gaithersburg and No. 11 Thomas Johnson in the regional quarterfinal.
  • Watkins Mill is seeded No. 4 in the 4A/3A North region, securing a first-round bye. The Wolverines will host the winner of No. 5 Tuscarora and No. 12 Northwest in the regional quarterfinal.
  • Gaithersburg is seeded No. 6 in the 4A/3A North region and will host No. 11 Thomas Johnson in the first round. As previously mentioned, the winner will face Quince Orchard.

Girl's Bracket

  • Quince Orchard is seeded No. 2 in the 4A/3A North region, securing a first-round bye. The Cougars will host the winner of No. 7 Magruder and No. 10 Gaithersburg in the regional quarterfinal.
  • Watkins Mill is seeded No. 4 in the 4A/3A North region, securing a first-round bye. The Wolverines will host No. 5 Westminster—also receiving a first-round bye—in the regional quarterfinal.
  • Gaithersburg is seeded No. 10 in the 4A/3A North region and will face No. 7 Magruder in the first round. As previously mentioned, the winner will face Quince Orchard.
