State Playoff Brackets Revealed

Quince Orchard and Wootton make it into regional playoffs in boys and girls lacrosse, baseball and softball.

The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) posted the full playoff brackets for the 2011 season on Wednesday. Quince Orchard and Wootton High School teams have made it to the playoffs in boys and girls lacrosse, baseball and softball.

Baseball

  • Quince Orchard (15-5 overall) enters the 3A west region playoffs as the No. one seeded team with a first round bye. On Monday Quince Orchard will host the winner of Seneca Valley v. Kennedy game for the quaterfinals.
  • No. eight seeded Wootton (8-10 overall) hosts Magruder on Friday in the first round of the 4A west playoffs.

Softball

  • Named No. 9 seeded team, Quince Orchard (6-9 overall), travels to Einstein for the first round of the 3A west region playoffs on Friday. The winner of that game will take on Damascus on Monday.
  • Wootton, given a No. 11 seed, will take on Richard Montgomery in the first round of the 4A west region playoffs on Friday. The winner of that game will take on Gaithersburg on Monday.

Boys lacrosse

  • As the No. one seeded team in the 4A-3A north region, . On Saturday, the undefeated QO (12-0 overall) will host the winner of the Urbana v. Richard Montgomery match for the quarterfinals.
  • As the No. three seeded team in the 4A-3A west region, Wootton also enters with a first round bye. On Saturday, Wootton will host the winner of the Paint Branch v. Kennedy match for the quaterfinals.

Girls lacrosse

  • Given the No. 11 seed, Quince Orchard travels to Gaithersburg for the first round of 4A-3A north region playoffs on Thursday. The winner of that match will take on Richard Montgomery on Saturday. 
  • No. 8 seeded Wootton hosts Montgomery Blair on Thursday for the first round of the 4A-3A west region playoffs. The winner of that match will take on Churchill on Saturday.
