Wootton's Hall Trying To Make Most Out Of Senior Hockey Season

Forward P.J. Hall has led Wootton club hockey team to No. 1 playoff seed, wants to finish his career with a championship.

The next few weeks could be the last of Wootton High School senior P.J. Hall's career in organized hockey, and Hall realizes it as much as anyone.

The forward was named to the Montgomery Hockey Conference's First Team last week and scored a goal in the MHC's All-Star Game on Tuesday at Wheaton Ice Arena.

His Patriots, traditionally one of the best club high school hockey teams in the county, have dominated this season with a 9-0 record, good enough for the top seed in the upcoming playoffs.

But Hall doesn't have a college hockey career ahead of him. Only a few area high schoolers do. He's unsure if he'll play club hockey at whichever school he decides to attend.

So he wants to make the most of his time. Anything less than a championship would be a disappointment.

"During the playoffs if we get beat, [the emotions] will come out," Hall said. "Hopefully we don't. Representing my school and wearing the captain's 'C' proud and making sure my school doesn't get beat is a big deal you know, especially during my senior year."

On Tuesday, Hall took the ice with a number of longtime friends he's met and played with through the Montgomery Blue Devils' youth hockey organization.

Competing with and against them was another reminder of his time in the sport he loves.

"We've been playing with each other since seven, or eight-[years old]," Hall said. "So it's a lot of fun seeing these guys. This game is a lot of fun. It's a great time."
