Wintry Mix Hit Much of Maryland Over Weekend, What's Next?

Were you caught in challenging driving conditions?

Some areas experienced 2-4 inches of snow and slush over the weekend, but most of Maryland was spared a dramatic third snow event of the season.

hazardous weather outlook was issued by the National Weather Service Saturday for regions around the Chesapeake Bay, but the cold weather is expected to make way for clear skies by the end of the weekend, forecasts indicate.

Snowfall in Carroll County closed school-sponsored activities. The region was under a winter storm warning until 1 a.m. Sunday with 2-4 inches of projected snowfall. Ice pellets were also reported.

Similar winter storm warnings were lifted in Howard County and southern Baltimore County, according to the National Weather Service, as warmer temperatures moved in sooner than expected. However, northern Baltimore County was still expected to receive snowfall.

Anne Arundel County got light rain through Saturday, with highs in the mid 40s, and by Sunday the skies should be clearing up to partly cloudy with a low of 27 degrees.

Montgomery and Prince George's counties experienced a period of steady light snow, making driving a challenge.

A mix of rain and light snow hit Harford County throughout Saturday, with a mix of rain and snow overnight expected to clear up by Sunday, which should be partly cloudy, with highs in the low 40s and a low of 23 degrees.

Elsewhere in the state, cold temperatures and precipitation were moving north along the coast, and the coming week's forecast is getting progressively more sunny.
