The city of Gaithersburg announced two new spring art programs to be held at the Kentlands Mansion and Gaithersburg Arts Barn, respectively: Experience Beethoven, Brahms and Weber at Kentlands Mansion Experience the sublime majesty of Beethoven, the passionate richness of Brahms and the charming virtuosity of Weber in the intimate warmth of Kentlands Mansion. Music at the Mansion’s “Reflections: Chamber Music of Beethoven, Brahms and Weber for Clarinet, Cello and Piano” takes place on Friday, April 19, 2013, at 8 p.m. This program highlights the influence of Beethoven’s great legacy on Brahms and Weber. Takes Arts Barn Stage In partnership with Rockville Musical Theatre, the Arts Barn presents the musical comedy Nunsense A-Men! The show runs April 5 through 21, 2013, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Admission is $18, $16 for City of Gaithersburg residents. This show contains adult language and parental guidance is suggested. The city of Gaithersburg released the following news within the last week: Department of Environmental Protection and WSSC to Sponsor H2O Summit The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection and the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission are sponsoring a free H2O Summit to educate participants about how their actions affect local streams and rivers and how they can get involved in protecting drinking water. The early session, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., is for adults who will learn how they can help protect and improve water quality. The Arts Barn is preparing to launch a new art exhibit, just in time for the holiday season. The city of Gaithersburg presents an exhibit featuring the photography of Howard Clark, Phil Fabrizio and Richard Weiblinger, and watercolors by Vian Shamounki Borchert and her students at the Arts Barn Gallery, from Nov. 21, through Jan. 21. Per the city: Howard Clark was a travel photographer for a 10-year period ending in early 2011, with a digital archive covering no fewer than 15 cities in Asia, 30 cities in Europe, and countless locations across the United States and Canada. Gaithersburg's Arts Barn hosted its 10th Anniversary celebration Saturday, Sept. 8, in the Kentlands. The celebration featured a sampling of art classes, face painting, balloons, art and painting demonstrations, a silent auction of handmade artwork, strolling magicians, and giveaways along with appearances from local and state officials.
