Maria Martin published "The Christmas Crown" last summer.
Maria Martin never thought of herself as a writer. But after seven years of imagining a story, developing ideas and crafting rhymes, she became a published children's author. This past summer, Martin, a resident of Darnestown for 15 years, released The Christmas Crown- a story about a bumble bee who organizes animals to bring gifts to the child who was born in Bethlehem. Through rhyme and pictures the reader is introduced to a new animal on each page who offers a unique virtue; the frog brings kindness, the fish bestows gentleness, and the squirrel goodness.
