Flu cases appear to be on the rise, according to Google Flu Trends, which "uses aggregated Google search data to estimate current flu activity around the world in near real-time," Google Flu Trends' website stated. Google Flu Trends' data indicates that the number of flu cases in Maryland is already between the "high" and "intense" categories, whereas at this time last year, the number of flu cases was only between the "low" and "moderate" categories. Get a Flu Shot in Rockville

Flu season typically begins in October and can run through May. Find out what you need to know to protect yourself and your family.

  Montgomery County health officials on Wednesday released the county's 2012-2013 schedule of free flu vaccination clinics. “Flu season is around the corner and vaccination is the best way to protect against getting the flu," county health officer Dr. Ulder J. Tillma said in a news release. "I urge everyone over the age of six months to get vaccinated.” Free flu vaccines will be offered at two Rockville clinics. FluMist nasal spray vaccines will be offered to healty children age 3 to 18 by appointment from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 5 at Richard Montgomery High School. Doctors Ask For Help Stopping the Flu

Adventist HealthCare hosted a flu prevention forum on Monday.

Get vaccinated. Wash your hands. Know the symptoms of flu and you can better treat it—or avoid it altogether. That was the message from a panel of doctors as Adventist HealthCare kicked off its fourth annual Help Stop the Flu campaign on Monday at the Universities at Shady Grove. The panel of experts in emergency medicine, primary care, pharmacology and community health are part of an effort to increase awareness and make flu shots and information readily available.   Flu season begins in November, with the peak at the start of February. “The best way to prevent the spread of the flu is to get vaccinated and to wash your hands,” said moderator Dr. Gaurov Dayal, a pediatrician and chief medical officer for Adventist HealthCare.   The flu …
