The Gaithersburg Police Department released the following crime statistics as part of its 2012 Annual Report: Proactive policing resulted in a significant increase in arrests from prior years that has attributed to the increased crime statistics: Traffic accidents decreased by 1.1 percent, with personal injury accidents showing a decrease of 3.7 percent: Crime Enforcement There has been a 10.6 percent increase in Part I Crimes within the city of Gaithersburg for January-September of 2012, as compared to the crime reporting statistics for January-September of 2011.
