A 60-year-old Germantown man was killed in the collision.
A 60-year-old Germantown man was struck and killed by a vehicle at the Lakeforest Bus Station on Friday, April 26, Montgomery County police said Monday. The victim, identified as Silvano Celedonio Alvarado, of the 12900 block of Walnut View Court, succumbed to his injuries on April 29, police said. Alvarado was attempting to cross Lost Knife Road near Odendhal Avenue when he was struck, police said. He was crossing Lost Knife Road from the median to the curb when he was struck by a black 2005 Lexus 300 that was traveling southbound on Lost Knife Road. The driver of the Lexus has been identified as Song Hee Lee, age 71, of the 200 block of Shadow Glen Court in Gaithersburg, police said. Lee stayed on the scene of the collision and assisted…

The case against a Chevy Chase 19-year-old will proceed to Montgomery County Circuit Court in Rockville after his girlfriend's father caught him with two alleged pipe bombs in Germantown. Kyle G. Druckemiller, 19, was indicted on two counts of manufacturing and possessing destructive devices, according to a statement from the State’s Attorney’s Office. A hearing was set for May 10, according to court records accessed online. If convicted, Druckemiller could face up to 25 years in jail and a $250,000 fine. The charges stem from a string of incidents in Germantown on April 12. Domestic incident involving parents off of school grounds triggered the alert, police and school officials said.
Two Germantown schools were placed on alert Wednesday morning, due to a domestic incident involving parents off school grounds, police and school officials said. Police were sent to Northwest High School and S. Christa McAuliffe Elementary School around 9:30 a.m. in response to threats made in relation to the domestic incident, Montgomery County police spokeswoman Angela Cruz said. Police did not provide details of the domestic incident. Outside doors were locked at the schools but classes were conducted as usual, said Gboyinde Onijala, a Montgomery County Public Schools spokeswoman. Police: Colleen Nicole Bell, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene
A Germantown woman was killed in a crash early Saturday after her car struck a taxi, spun 180 degrees and crashed into a tree. Colleen Nicole Bell, 20, of the 19100 block of Highstream Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene, Montgomery County Police said. The call was dispatched at around 2:30 a.m. According to police, Bell was driving north on Mateny Road, but as she entered the intersection of Mateny and Clopper Roads, she struck a Regency cab travelling east on Clopper. Police said her Honda Civic spun 180 degrees, veered off the road and struck a tree. The cab driver was injured but was not transported, police said. The crash is still being investigated.

Police: Girl ran into the street, struck side of van
A 4-year-old girl who was hospitalized after being struck by a car in Germantown on Saturday, had run into the street and struck the side of a van, a Montgomery County Police spokesman told The Gazette. Initial reports were that a pedestrian was struck on Summer Oak Drive at around 5:10 p.m., several news outlets have reported. The child was flown to the hospital and was “conscious and alert,” according to WTOP.

Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union employees were inspired by a Connecticut police officer’s efforts to use the ducks to spread cheer.
On Thursday, it was operation rubber ducky at Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union. The Germantown-based credit union shipped 381 rubber ducks to Shandy Hook Schools, inspired by a Connecticut police officer’s effort to share rubber ducks with the students as a way to spread cheer. The credit union already had its own rubber duck tradition, giving them to employees who went above and beyond everyday tasks. FBI agent: Gilberto Valle targeted a former University of Maryland classmate, NBC Washington reported.
An alleged plot by a New York City police officer to kidnap, kill and cook a Germantown woman was foiled by the FBI, NBC Washington reported Wednesday. Gilberto Valle, 28, of Queens, NY, is on trial in a Manhattan federal court. He is charged with conspiring to kidnap women and illegally accessing a government database to research potential victims, according to the report. Kimberly Sauer, of Germantown, is a former classmate of Valle's at the University of Maryland, NBC Washington reported. Other women who prosecutors say were potential targets include a former high school classmate, two other former college classmates and an 18-year-old woman who attended Valle's high school alma mater. A 37-year-old North Potomac man was critically injured in a four-vehicle crash on Clopper Road in Gaithersburg Friday that involved a Montgomery County Public Schools bus, police said. About 1:15 p.m., Kent Behzad Karimi, of the unit block of Polk Court in North Potomac, was stopped in his black 2012 Chevrolet Equinox in the northbound lanes of Clopper Road, waiting to make a left turn into the driveway of Seneca Creek State Park, police said in a statement.
