The school canceled the original rally after students became "overly spirited."
After school officials canceled a pep rally, students at Gaithersburg High School today protested by organizing a riot-like rally of their own. Students used Twitter and other social media tools to organize the protest rally. The original rally, part of Spirit Week, a week-long homecoming celebration, was called off shortly before it was scheduled to start at 12:30 this afternoon after some students became "overly spirited," according to Gaithersburg Principal Dr. Christine Handy-Collins. Today was class color day, and students painted their faces and used glitter to decorate themselves in colors according to their class. Football game, half time performances, and homecoming court
The Wootton High School Patriots beat the Churchill Bulldogs in the Homecoming football game on Friday. The final score was 48-42 after four overtimes. At halftime the Homecoming court circled the track along with each class float and the marching band, cheer team, and dancers performed.

The event capped off spirit week
Students and staff at Quince Orchard High School officially wrapped up spirit week on Saturday evening with their 2010 homecoming dance. The QOHS varsity football team won their homecoming game against Northwood High School on October 1, 2010, with a 36-6 final score. This year's sprit week theme at QOHS was board games and the senior class dominated in almost all of the spirit week activities. "It's inevitable, of course we won!" said Kiana Boldon, a senior at QOHS who attended the homecoming dance with her friends Valentina Rodriguez and Jordan Johnson.
