Report: Gaithersburg Woman Accused Of Selling Sex With Teenage Daughter

The Gazette: Prosecutors say a 44-year-old Gaithersburg man paid $100 for sex with the girl.

A Montgomery County grand jury has indicted a Gaithersburg woman on charges that she prostituted her daughter in order to pay a debt, The Gazette reported. Bejarni Rivas, 44, of Gaithersburg, paid the mother $100 each time to have sex with the victim, according to charging documents cited in the report. The alleged incidents occurred in the men's changing room at the Georgian Colonies Club House in Silver Spring between December and March, the report said. Rivas is charged with 13 counts of rape, sexual abuse, and other charges, The Gazette reported. The mother is charged with 11 similar counts, and was being held in jail on $275,000 bond. Man Arrested For Series Of Robberies In Gaithersburg, Montgomery County

A 52-year-old Germantown man was arrested for 10 commercial robberies and two street robberies in Montgomery County.

A Germantown man suspected of 10 commercial robberies and two street robberies in Montgomery County — including four in the Gaithersburg area — was arrested during a traffic stop in Gaithersburg Feb. 17, Montgomery County police announced Wednesday. Duane James, 52, of the 18600 block of Mustard Seed Court, was charged with two counts of armed robbery, having a handgun in a vehicle and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, police said. After his arrest, James was charged with nine additional armed robbery charges and three first-degree assault charges. The string of robberies occurred throughout the county between Dec. 27 and Feb. 17, police said. James was arrested after reports of two armed robberies committed minutes apart…

UPDATE: Police: A Traffic Stop on I-270 Ended in Suicide

State police: The man shot himself after being stopped for not wearing a seatbelt.

Update, 6:20 p.m., Jan. 20: Maryland State Police have identified the driver of the Ford Focus who police said fatally shot himself during a traffic stop on Interstate 270 on Friday afternoon as a 27-year-old Gaithersburg man. The man's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy, police said in a news release Sunday. Update, 9:45 p.m., Jan. 18: A man fatally shot himself after being stopped by a state trooper near the Montrose Road exit of Interstate 270 on Friday afternoon, Maryland State Police said. Police Seek Man For Questioning In Whetstone Apartment Slaying

Montgomery County police released a composite sketch Monday of a man they say could be connected to a Dec. 3 fatal stabbing in Gaithersburg.

Montgomery County police are seeking help from the public in identifying a person of interest in the Dec. 3, 2012, fatal stabbing of 45-year-old Cesar Smith in Gaithersburg's Whetstone apartment complex. Police released a composite image Monday afternoon of a man who was "seen in the vicinity of the crime." Detectives said they need to identify him and speak with him regarding the incident. Investigators say the crime was not random and that the victim and suspects may have had some association, but they cannot confirm that relationship. Three Boys Charged in Attempted New Year's Day Armed Robbery Near White Flint Mall

A woman was punched in the head after the suspects demanded cash, police said.

Three boys, ages 15 to 17, were charged in an attempted armed robbery on New Year’s Day in the White Flint area, Montgomery County police said Thursday. Officers responded to the 5800 block of Nicholson Lane in North Bethesda at 5:48 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a woman screaming. The 56-year-old woman left White Flint Mall and was walking along Nicholson Lane when three suspects approached her from behind and demanded cash, police said in a news release. One of the suspects punched the woman in the head, according to the release. When the woman screamed, the suspects fled.
