Frederick News-Post: A front seat passenger from North Potomac was not injured.
A Gaithersburg man was killed early Sunday morning in a single-car crash in Frederick County, The Gazette reported. Daniel Swader was driving southbound in the 8800 block of Gambrill Park Road when his 1993 Honda Accord went off the roadway and collided with a tree, according to the report. A front-seat passenger, Trevor Robison of North Potomac, was uninjured in the crash, according to The Frederick News-Post. North Potomac: 'All of my neighbors were outside last night watching the flames which were huge.'
A fire in a vacant North Potomac home Wednesday night took more than 55 firefighters to put out, a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson told Patch. Firefighters were dispatched to the 14900 block of Talking Rock Court around 8 p.m., MCFRS spokesperson Beth Anne Nesselt said. First reponders reported a large fire in a vacant single-family home that is under construction. Firefighters took a defensive approach, controlling and extinguishing the fire quickly, Nesselt said. Burglars stole $100,000 worth of goods from 30 homes, according to Montgomery County Police.
Two Rockville teens and a 21-year-old Rockville man were among six people charged in a North Potomac burglary spree that netted more than $100,000 worth of items, Montgomery County Police said Thursday. According to District Court records accessed online, Tita Ntemgwa Fontava, 21, of the 14000 block of Pellita Terrace, has been charged with 56 counts of burglary, theft, property destruction and related conspiracy charges. Fontava is being held on $20,000 bail and is awaiting a March 1 court hearing. His bail was initially $85,000, the court records show. Below-freezing temperatures and a wintery mix of rain, freezing rain and sleet spurred an extended winter weather advisory for Montgomery and Prince George's counties on Wednesday. The forecast called for accumulations of less than one inch of sleet and under a tenth of an inch of ice, according to the Naitonal Weather Service. Temperatures are expected to stay below freezing, which can cause treacherous road conditions. In a statement released by the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) administrator Melinda B. Peters urged motorists to "keep their speeds down as lighter traffic can result in increased travel speeds" and "to exercise extreme caution today." Strong-Arm Robbery Suspects Sought Police said a male was beat up and robbed by five people in Germantown on Sautrday, Dec. 8. The attack was reported near Plummer and Fox Chapel drives at around 10:30 p.m., according to Montgomery County Police. A detailed description of the suspects—males, between the ages of 16 and 24—was unavailable. Police spokeswoman Rebecca Innocenti said the victim was approached by two suspects, who proceeded to beat him up. Innocenti said three others joined in the assault.
