Jaguars run away with the game in the second half, claim playoff berth.
Richard Montgomery took an early second quarter lead, but eventually was left in the dust of an offensive explosion, falling 54-20 to Northwest in a high school football clash with playoff implications on Friday in Rockville. The Jaguars are in the playoffs, thier 7-3 (4-1 in 4A West) finish earning them the No. 2 seed in the 4A division. The Rockets—finishing 6-4 (2-3 in 4A West)—are out after a disappointing end to a strong season that saw coach Neal Owens’ team fall just short of its preseason goal while posting its first winning record since its last playoff appearance in 2005. The Rockets appeared poised to make a game—or more appropriately a track meet—of the contest, scoring three straight touchdowns after the Jaguars took a 13-0 …

This year marks just the second time the organization has made the playoffs and its…

With last week's 48-0 win over Magruder, Quince Orchard High School completed its second undefeated regular season in the last three years. Tonight against Bethesda Chevy-Chase, the Cougars second season begins. As the No. 1 seed in the 4A West Region, QO is the favorite to advance to the state semis and looks prime for a second championship under head coach Dave Mencarini. The Red Army welcomes the Barons to the Cougar Dome at QO tonight at 7 p.m. The match up was nominated by Fox 5 for game of the week, but was edged out by Churchill-Gaithersburg by 3.9 percent. The winner of tonight's QO-BCC game will face the Churchill-Gaithersburg next weekend for a berth in the state semifinals and could set up a rematch between rivals QO and …

Yes, it should be the Parkway Series. I used to live in both Maryland and Montreal, and I don't resent the city of DC for taking our team (MLB took it) so I'll be really conflicted if it comes down to a Parkway Series.   more ›
