Report: Gaithersburg Restaurants Cited For Health Code Violations

A chinese restaurant closes for roaches and a chicken restaurant reopens after storing chicken in a potentially dangerous 65 degree refrigerator, WUSA 9 reports.

Two Gaithersburg restaurants are in hot water after recent citations from the Montgomery County Health Department, WUSA 9 reports. Hunan Palace, located at 9011 Gaither Road, was cited for a roach infestation after inspectors found "old dead and live roaches of all life stages found on the counter, shelves, and in the Chinese restaurant's sauce packets storage containers." Also cited was Sardi's Pollo A La Brasa, located at 430 North Frederick Avenue. Known for its hot rotisserie chicken, inspectors say the restaurant's cooler was more than 20 degrees warmer than the maximum 41 degrees required by law. "Inspectors reported 21 pans of chicken stored at Sardi's in a potentially dangerous 65 degree refrigerator," according to the report. …

Just nosy me, but how often do these inspectors do their inspecting? How long were these restaurants violating the law before being nabbed?? So they are reopened, but when will they be checked again. I don't think I will ever go to either place now!   more ›
