Montgomery County Police have released a composite sketch of a suspect they have linked to a Germantown theft spree
A woman exiting her car was punched in the face and robbed Monday night in Germantown, a possible escalation of a brazen purse theft spree that began in late December. The most recent victim, a 46-year-old woman, was parked in a lot within the 2000 block of Appledowre Circle at around 9 p.m. when a male suspect demanded money and threatened her with a knife, Montgomery County Police officer Rebecca Innocenti, a police spokeswoman told Patch. The woman was punched in the face when she said she didn’t have any money. On Tuesday, police released a composite sketch and are urging residents to be vigilant—locking their doors even if they’re inside their cars and taking all valuable items out of their vehicles, Innocenti said. A commercial burglary was reported at Beers & Cheers located at 19827 Century Boulevard in Germantown on Friday, Dec. 14 around 2:30 a.m., after an alarm was triggered. Police said there were signs of forced entry and that property was reported missing. A commercial burglary was reported at the Sunoco at 18001 Mateny Road in Darnestown on Monday Dec. 10, at around 5 a.m Forced entry; property taken. Vehicle parts were taken from a vehicle in the 13900 block of Baliwick Terrace in Germantown. Police said the incident happened at around 6 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12.
