Collision occured at Clopper Road and Village Fountain Drive
A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Clopper Road and Village Fountain Drive on Tuesday night. Specific details about the victim and the circumstances behind the crash were unavailable Wednesday. A Montgomery County police spokesperson said the pedestrian was hospitalized. At around 7:42 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the 13400 block of Clopper Road at Village Fountain Drive, according to Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service spokesman Assist. Cpt. A woman was struck by a vehicle while legally crossing the intersection of Great Seneca Highway and Kentlands Boulevard on Jan. 23, according to a report by The Town Courier. The woman was walking through the crosswalk when the driver "was making a left-hand turn from Kentlands Boulevard onto Great Seneca Highway when the vehicle in front of the driver’s car stopped," Montgomery County police spokewoman officer Rebecca Innocenti told The Town Courier. "The driver then tried to get around the stopped vehicle and collided with the pedestrian who was legally in the crosswalk." Marie Doggett was struck by a vehicle while walking her dog the evening of Jan. 5.
Montgomery County police have identified the woman struck by a vehicle near the Gaithersburg school Thursday as Thurgood Marshall Elementary School staff member Marie Doggett, Sergeant Jennifer McNeal said. Doggett was struck in the 16100 block of Orchard Grove Road while she was walking her dog, according to a letter sent to Ridgeview Middle School parents from PTSA President Julie Tittle. Doggett’s son – Michael Doggett – is also a Montgomery County Public School teacher.
